Three Years Ago Today…
Three years ago today, I married my Steve.

Now, three years later, I look back in awe at how much we’ve grown, and how amazing he is. I loved him then, but love him now even more than I ever knew was possible. He’s pretty fabulous… and I am lucky. I can’t wait for the next 60 years of our life together. xoxo
Our Wedding, In Photos

Walking down the aisle...

The Bridal Party & Bride walked down the aisle to the song “Brighter than Sunshine” by Aqualung.
There was a light sprinkle of rain during the ceremony, which made the lyrics all more appropriate:
“Let the rain fall, I don’t care. I’m yours and suddenly your mine, and it’s brighter than sunshine.”

An umbrella was brought up halfway through the ceremony, as the rain got a little more heavy!

Steve sang a few songs to Jenny during the reception. "My Babe", "Beloved One" "Wildflowers" & "Crazy Love".

Walking through the meadow, to see Steve for the first time!

I was a bit stressed, because it began sprinkling rain just before the ceremony!

Nate Graham was our Videographer, and the following are a few clips of the raw footage he captured.
MANY more videos will be coming soon!
This video is of the News Story that Channel 4 did on Steve & I. They wanted to interview a 7/7/07 couple, and somehow found us!

We’re Married!
We did it! After 5 and a half years of dating, Steve & I got married on July 7th.
The week leading up to the day were fun, eventful, stressful – all of that. On July 4th, we were interviewed for a Channel 4 news story about 7/7/07 couples, to be broadcast the night before the wedding. It was so fun and cheesy – it was great. You can watch it here:

Anyway, the day before the wedding we had our rehersal dinner / BBQ. It was A BLAST! My Mom, Heather & I went shopping for all the food that morning, and somehow made Costco totally fun. We bought way too much stuff. Especially for S’mores. I have lots of leftover Marshmallows & Graham Crackers.
The BBQ was delicious, and it was SO fun to finally see everyone in one place! Alya, Lisa & Jake all arrived from out of town that afternoon, and it was great to finally see them. We ate, then walked up to the meadow that the ceremony was to be held in, and walked through it a few times. That moment made it so real!

The next morning, the morning of the wedding, we went up to the Spruces early to set up. Christmas lights were hung, taken down, and rehung about three times (Thanks Geoff & Lindsay!), lanterns were strung & hung in the windows, tables were re-arranged & set, chairs were set out for the ceremony, and the newly-built altar placed.
Then I spent the next couple hours at a Solitude Condo getting ready with my girls. I gotta say, I had the jitters. I was nervous. I wanted to make sure everything went perfectly!
When we were finally ready, and headed outside to go to the wedding, it started sprinkling rain! I ran to the car, and started to panic a little. It wasn’t a LOT of rain, and it actually made the temperature quite pleasant, but still. I had not planned for rain!
When we got to the Spruces, the sky cleared, and I walked through the golden field to the spot behind some trees where my groom was waiting for me. We had planned all along to see each other before the ceremony – have this “moment”. I walked around the grove of pine trees, and there he was, beaming at me. It was so awesome. We had our little moment, and then came back down to the meadow to take family pictures before the ceremony began.
Then it started to sprinkle again. After a moment of panic, I finally “let go” and just accepted it. Especially after I looked around and saw how refreshed everyone was, and how comfortable the temperature had become (it was 100 degrees before it started to rain, and everyone was sweating.)
After several group photos, the Bridal Party & I retreated behind the trees, and Steve went up to the Altar to wait for the ceremony to begin. The guests finished arriving, and took their seats.
My Dad got an umbrella out of his car for me to stand under while we waited, to protect my curls.
The music started, and the Bridal party went down the aisle. We walked down to “Brighter than Sunshine” by Aqualung. The lyrics were perfect for the scenario, as they said “Let the rain fall, I don’t care, I’m yours and suddenly your mine. And it’s brighter than sunshine.” It was absolutely cinematic, and could not have been more perfect!
Looking back, the rain was an absolute blessing.
There was no sweeter moment than coming around the bunch of pine trees, to see my Steve beaming at me.

During the ceremony, the rain got a little heavier, and we had the Umbrella brought back to us. I was so glad it matched our wedding – it was brown! A big red umbrella with a “U” on it would not have looked good for pictures. But this Umbrella was so perfect it looked planned. There’s the lucky 7’s taking their play, right there!
After we were pronounced husband & wife, everyone cheered as we kissed, then went back up the aisle hand-in-hand while Bron-Yr-Aur (by Led Zeppelin) played over the speakers. It was a totally magical ceremony. Amazing!

We continued right to the reception area, which looked PERFECT. White lights were twinkling, White paper lanterns slowly swaying in the breeze – the food & live music ready to go, and the tables all looked perfect.
The night from then on was wonderful. We had one little scare when, about a half hour into the reception, we tripped the breaker, and the power went out. It took about 10 minutes for them to fix it, and I had a little panic moment, but they did fix it, and the rest of the night went flawlessly.
We cut the cake, did our first dance, danced with our parents, and danced with all our guests. The live band was AMAZING – and people were dancing all night. (Here’s a candid video of some of the partying):

Later I threw the bouquet, and Nicole (engaged to our Groomsman Spencer) caught it. How often does that happen? The person who caught the bouquet really IS the next one getting married.
Steve also got the garter – with his teeth, and flung that to his friends. Nate caught that one.
We left at the end of the night, after smiling so much our cheeks hurt. My dress was FILTHY on the bottom, having tracked it through dirt & mud & having been stepped on countless times, but I didn’t care. We were married, and completely overjoyed! We spent the night up at the lodge at Solitude Village, which was beautiful.
It was an amazing wedding, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
